Established in 1979, CVS Machinery analysis is an independent Canadian company
providing industry leading quality analysis, cost efficient early fault detection, and accurate
documentation. Our success is due to the combined expertise of our dedicated staff, quality
workmanship, knowledge and efficient service. The CVS staff of Certified Engineering
Technologists is fully qualified to perform a range of essential services using advanced
testing equipment. Services we provide, include . . .

We are proud of the service we provide and the good relations we’ve established
with our customers over the years. Our commitment to customer satisfaction has solidified our
reputation. Our objective is to continue to provide quality service for the industrial sector that
will ensure customer satisfaction on a 24 hour, on call, basis.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS

Preventative maintenance circuits provide an early warning system for failing machinery.
If approaching problems are detected, scheduled maintenance can be arranged
reducing unexpected failures and resulting down time. CVS can provide a detailed
on site recording of vibration data on a group of selected machinery. By taken sets
of readings periodically (typically every month, every 2months, 3 months etc.) a
vibration history is created. When new data is compared to the history, machine
characteristics are built and future problems can be tracked and addressed before
they cause an emergency breakdown. Data collection typically takes one day,
depending on the number of machines tested. This data is then downloaded, analyzed
and a detailed report is created outlining equipment that needs attention.

VIBRATION ANALYSIS

Vibration Analysis is a non-intrusive way to detect mechanical defects,
including misalignment, defective bearings, worn bearing journals, worn
shafts and gears etc. CVS uses the latest technology to collect and analyze
this vibration data. However, no amount of technology can replace the value
of experience, and with a history of over 25 years in the industry, CVS
is in a position to assist your organization to interpret the gathered data
and define the root cause of the vibration on your critical rotating equipment.

CVS provides highly trained technicians for on-site diagnosis using the latest
vibration monitoring equipment, and software, to diagnose machine faults such
as; machine wear, suspect bearings, looseness, misalignment, aerodynamic
and hydraulic forces, and unbalance, to name but a few of the varied problems
associated with high speed rotating equipment.

LASER ALIGNMENT

Laser shaft alignment is a very effective way to well maintain industrial rotating machinery.
Benefits of correct alignment are:

  • Minimize bearing wear
  • Minimize coupling wear
  • Reduce mechanical seal failures
  • Lower vibration levels
  • Minimize amount of shaft bending
  • Eliminate chance of shaft failure from fatigue
CVS offers on site laser alignment of all types of rotating equipment from small motor/pump
units to large turbine systems. A full report is provided showing all results and tolerances used.

ON-SITE BALANCING

On-site, in-place balancing is a cost-effective way to guard against repeated equipment
failure and to ensure the reliable operation of your organization's equipment.

For more than 25 years CVS has offered, on-call, 24 hour balance service due to the
critical necessity of continually operating pollution control fans, air handling fans, pumps
and production equipment. We carry with us a wide selection of corrective balance
weights that in most cases can be left in place, rather than fabricating special corrective
plates,or permanent removal of weight.

We also provide a full report outlining measurements before and after any balance
project, as well as noting any other observations and suggestions that would improve
the overall machines’condition.

BORESCOPE INSPECTIONS

A small borescope camera is fed into machinery to inspect the inside without
having to dismantle the unit.

Over the last several years CVS has been able to offer an on site borescope
service. We presently have two borescope units, one medium sized unit
(approx 1” dia.) and a small unit (approx ¼” dia). Both boresopes have
been used on a wide range of machines from pumps and compressors to
large turbines. For example, pump impellers can be inspected by feeding
the borescope in through a drain plug saving costly down time for dismantling
the pump casing. Other examples would be gearboxes and lube systems.

As with the other services, a full report is provided in addition to a video
cassette showing the entire inspection.
